Founded in 2022 by Mariella Uwimana, a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, Life Again is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals, especially women and young people, overcome substance use and mental health challenges.
Mariella’s personal journey from homelessness to healing fuels our mission: to provide safe, compassionate spaces where those struggling with addiction and trauma can find hope, healing, and a path forward. Drawing from lived experience, our approach is trauma-informed, gender-responsive, and rooted in dignity.
Through transitional shelter, therapy, recovery workshops, and community empowerment programs, we support our clients every step of the way — from crisis to confidence, from survival to stability.
To empower individuals in recovery from substance use through compassionate care, gender-responsive treatment, and safe transitional shelter.
A world where everyone affected by substance abuse has access to healing, housing, and hope for lasting recovery.
